<p>I kept picking at random and burning credits on the wrong workflow. Then I wrote down a decision rule based on what each model is actually for in day-to-day image-to-video work — not "which is best overall," which is a useless question.</p>
<p>I run this on <a href="https://videoify.net/">Videoify</a>: MiniMax H3, Seedance 2.5, and Wan 3.0 share one balance, and the exact credit cost is shown before you hit generate. Same selection logic applies anywhere those model names show up.</p>
<h2>What I'm optimizing for</h2>
<table>
<thead>
<tr>
<th>Criterion</th>
<th>Why it matters</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody><tr>
<td>Subject stays recognizable</td>
<td>Identity drift kills client comps</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Motion matches a short prompt</td>
<td>Over-prompting is the usual failure mode</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Iteration cost</td>
<td>First generate is a draft</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>End-frame / multi-ref support</td>
<td>Some shots need a landing; some need references</td>
</tr>
</tbody></table>
<h2>Tradeoffs, with specifics</h2>
<h3>MiniMax H3 — default for clean short clips</h3>
<p><strong>Reach for H3 when:</strong> one strong start image, a simple motion prompt, short duration, and you want a predictable bill.</p>
<p>On Videoify, H3 is quoted per second: <strong>2 credits/sec at 768P</strong>, <strong>3 credits/sec at 2K</strong>. That makes 4–8s tests cheap enough to rerun without guilt.</p>
<table>
<thead>
<tr>
<th>Fits</th>
<th>Less ideal</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody><tr>
<td>Product stills, portraits with gentle motion</td>
<td>Longer narrative beats</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Cost-visible short iteration</td>
<td>Heavy multi-reference guidance</td>
</tr>
</tbody></table>
<p>If you only need "turn head + slow push-in," start here.</p>
<h3>Seedance 2.5 — when duration is the feature</h3>
<p><strong>Reach for Seedance when:</strong> the shot needs room — walk across frame and settle, slow camera move, social clip that feels chopped at 5 seconds.</p>
<p>On Videoify's pricing page, longer Seedance clips (720p / 1080p) are called out as a reason to step up plan capacity. Treat that as a signal: Seedance is where length lives, not where you should burn a first draft.</p>
<table>
<thead>
<tr>
<th>Fits</th>
<th>Watch for</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody><tr>
<td>Longer social clips, slower pacing</td>
<td>Blowing budget on attempt #1</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Shots that need breathing room</td>
<td>Skipping the short prototype</td>
</tr>
</tbody></table>
<p>Still prototype short. Then extend.</p>
<h3>Wan 3.0 — when references do the heavy lifting</h3>
<p><strong>Reach for Wan when:</strong> you're in the reference-to-video path — character + wardrobe + setting/style images, or an MP3/WAV audio reference guiding pacing.</p>
<p>One hero selfie and a two-line motion prompt does not need this path. Multi-image consistency is the point.</p>
<table>
<thead>
<tr>
<th>Fits</th>
<th>Skip when</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody><tr>
<td>Reference-to-video workflows</td>
<td>Single image + short motion prompt</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Keeping a look stable across guidance images</td>
<td>You haven't tried H3 for a cheap baseline</td>
</tr>
</tbody></table>
<p>Note from Videoify's credit rules: the first 5 reference images are included; each additional reference image costs 1 credit. Reference video durations get rounded up and billed with output duration. Factor that in before you dump ten refs into a test.</p>
<h2>Decision tree</h2>
<pre><code class="language-text">one image + simple motion + short clip?
  → MiniMax H3

need longer duration / slower pacing?
  → Seedance 2.5

multiple refs (or audio ref) guiding the shot?
  → Wan 3.0

two answers feel true?
  → short H3 test first, then move
</code></pre>
<h2>Credits before ego</h2>
<p>The useful habit is not picking the "strongest" model. It is:</p>
<ol>
<li>See the quoted cost before generate</li>
<li>Treat generate #1 as a draft</li>
<li>Change one variable at a time (model <strong>or</strong> prompt <strong>or</strong> duration — not all three)</li>
</ol>
<p>I ruined more clips by over-prompting on an expensive setting than by picking the "wrong" model.</p>
<p>Privacy note if you're testing client assets: Videoify states uploads are never used for training and reference files auto-delete in 7 days (TLS 1.3 / AES-256). Check whatever tool you use before you upload unreleased packaging.</p>
<h2>Bottom line</h2>
<table>
<thead>
<tr>
<th>Model</th>
<th>Role</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody><tr>
<td><strong>MiniMax H3</strong></td>
<td>Cheap, controlled shorts; default</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><strong>Seedance 2.5</strong></td>
<td>Length / slower pacing</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><strong>Wan 3.0</strong></td>
<td>Multi-ref / audio-guided workflows</td>
</tr>
</tbody></table>
<p>Write the motion prompt once. Change one variable per retry. Stop chasing a mythical perfect model.</p>
